OK so it is not fungi.
But it is an exceedingly small plant in full flower growing in the gravel at the end of the road on Mount Ruapehu.

Nice Colin. I was at Taupo just last Sunday for a few hours. A nice part of the planet. Nice image.

Ozi.

Colin, I like the square format and the fact it looks like an abstract
with different shapes and contrasting colours. I think it would look
wonderful on a canvas on a wall.

Reminds me of an image taken by the master...Ansel Adams...though his was shot on 10 x 8 film with a large view camera, and in black and white. Your image is very similar but lacks the critical detail of the Adams print This is a consequence of the equipment used....not your skill or your eye, so... I think you need a Nikon D800 or a Hasselblad in order to do justice to your art. Macro photography is one of the few photographic disciplines where equipment matters, and you are just so bloody good at it you deserve the best gear available.

Yes Ozi NZ is a photographers paradise.

I suppose a tighter crop may remove the oof corners but it may also then loose depth.

Thanks Matt, you are not moving into a new line as a sales rep are you?
I agree though that extra pixels makes for better macro images. Moving up to the D700 made a huge difference from the previous camera.

Aye, indeed it is, and a fisherman's paradise, and a hunter's paradise, and a culinary paradise. Pity the place is full of New Zealanders... :biglaugh:

Do talk Greg in regards to the issues that too many pixels can produce...he has faced that one with the D800 first hand. However a 50-80MP MF back would do nicely
