After the Rain

I took a stroll to the local Botanic Gardens with the XF60 macro and XP1 in search of a few frogs following the deluge of rain in the past few days. Only managed to find one little fella in amongst the vegetation and he did not hang a round for long once I pointed the lens at him!

Excellent capture Geoff. I love frogs and we get plenty of them up here on the north coast. We found a micro frog at the greengrocer the other day. He was tiny, about 5-6mm long. BTW, I now have a shiny new Fuji 56mm in my possession. I've only taken a few dozen pics with it, but it seems incredible right from the outset. Happy days...

I was going to say "exquisite", but it has epicurean connotations and I am not into frog legs, so I will settle for " simply beautiful!"

Thanks Ozi.......this frog was approx 20mm long. I would be most interested to hear your feedback on the 56. It was not on my radar having the 60mm but it seems that I may just have to add it also! I have my b'day coming in May so who knows what may show up.

Love it Geoff. Those little Eastern Sedge Frogs are the cutest things and make stunning macro subjects. Nice capture.

Nice image. Whilst I am a great fan of low contrast imagery, I think in this case a tad more contrast might improve the image. Then again, it might not. :D :D :D

focus and depth of field aside... noting they are both pretty good. The pastel colours just do it for me. I am gonna go against MattK here and say the contrast is nice as it is, however for me, I would have added some vignetting since the viewer gets drawn to the brighter parts of the frame which are the corners.

Thanks Simon, Matt & Gerry.

I do have another image with higher contrast and which does provide the frog more presence in the frame but for me the subtlety of this rendition won over. I have not tried a vignette however so thanks for the suggestion.
