I took several images with this fern but felt none really did justice to it in a artistic or representation sense, this was probably the best of the lot..

and yes, I moved the fern in the foreground to suit my desired composition

I do like the contrast and saturation you have presented here, but the composition does not quite sit right with me for some reason. How about a square crop cutting out the top part of the image? The resulting crop aligning the top of the boulders on both the left and right of the frame.

I am not sure about this one; I think there is too much foreground. Have you thought of a square format from the top?

Love it. The ferns are magic, colours superb. With deference to our our other noble critics, I wouldn't change a thing.

Thanks guys, I see the point about a crop from the top (or bottom) there are quite a few elements in the frame and they are competing with each other, cropping from the top or bottom seems to make the image flow a bit better and less cluttered.

It's the blurred water in the foreground that just doesn't sit right compositionally....it jars the senses. Love the rest of the image though.

i agree with matt, the bluring in the foreground is the only thing that is a miss. otherwise, the colour and framing is gorgeous.

I also agree. I think crop it in a little from the bottom, remove the orange highlight there and tone down the highlight in the water in the bottom right corner.

Otherwise, wonderful image.

Had a play with several different crops and you could make several interesting things out of this image if you wished.
The colour and depth of colour as it were are what draws me. I love this kind of forest,

That is a very nice image. I like the way it opens up to the rear and draws you into the scene. Good job.
