We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Suddenly remembered this was on at the last minute yesterday arvo. Grabbed my gear and went out to a local hillside, turned up too early, lol. I wasn't the only one.  After waiting for the total eclipse to finish below the horizon (not visible near Adelaide) the moon finally appeared and did it's thing:  ISO800, f.6.7, 1/8s. Taken with the XC 50-230mm zoom that I managed to score at Teds for $299. I haven't tried photographing the moon before. Most of the shots show quite a bit of overexposure on the lit side of the moon, it seems there is a tradeoff between getting some shadow and highlight detail when photographing a lunar eclipse. Nonetheless, entertaining, especially watching the kids taking photos of it on their phones

Most photographers grossly overexpose the moon. Correct exposure is usually around ISO400 and f11 at 1/500th of a second. Almost the same as Earth on a sunny day.

jealous...we had nothing but cloud here  I think bracketing your shot for the second could have maintained that highlight detail and thus given more attention to the nice shadow detail which, imo is overpowered by the bright white bit of the moon.

I agree Gerry. Never shot the moon before, so bit of a learning curve.
Next eclipse is in October, with a bit of weather luck, I'll try again.
