Rock the Night - Panorama...

I figured I’d try just one night time panorama whilst I was up here at the top of the rockefeller. I had nothing except my Gorilla pod so everything was going to be pretty manual and random. I could only shoot the frames horizontal (because the camera only mounts in landscape on the gorilla pod) and I basically just had to take the frames and pick the whole gorilla pod up and rotate it and try to get things to stay as level as possible across the frames

I wasn’t really expecting too much out of this but I’m really happy with the result – five (5) horizontal frames stitched (taken around 8:10PM) this encompasses around a 180º view

One question - do you prefer the full wider view (which includes more of the building itself on the left and right or the cropped frame of just the city view (I have my own preference) - do you want me to make this clickable through to larger (1920) versions?

Nicely timed blue hour panos Rodney
Firstly I think you need to view large to really appreciate them.
Secondly, I prefer the second, however propose a third option which i would prefer ;)

The inclusion of the building draws attention away and as such I would do all possible to remove that so that the view is more like a view from a birds eye.
Looking at the second image, how about cropping from the right to remove all of the building, this would then put the spire building (originally on centreline) on the right hand third intersect and then also really bring that building on the left into play as a nice anchor point.

I think it's fine as it is and I don't think you want to remove any of the orange glow in the sky. Definitely the second image.

Second for sure. A couple of questions. Was it cold up there? And were you only allowed the Gorilla-pod because of security reasons etc?

A fine photo.

EDIT: I just read through your other post and answered the first question for myself!
