Hopper's paintings relate to isolation of the human figure. These people are clearly relating to one another.
Have a look at his famous, and much imitated NightHawks. The people in the cafe are not relating at all. Even the "couple" are in their own space. And the barkeep is more involved with something under the counter than his customers.
My photo from a few weeks ago was much more Hopper-esque
Great capture none the less.

But the overall feel of the image....the figures through a window, the lighting and perhaps the mood of the image have a Hopper feel to me. Oh. and that empty bar stool...that's the clincher!

Posted: Mon May 26, 2014 2:01 amI like this discussion guys, this is the kinda stuff that I find helpful, especially when famous fogs (who I have no idea about) are involved.
Lots of elements in this image Matt, my eyes run around teh frame from the words 'republic' to cellar door, to teh stool and finally to the window, a nice spiral path!

Posted: Wed May 28, 2014 12:11 pmI like but would suggest photo chopping out the top awnings to give more emphasis to the framed people. I am a great fan of Hopper and agree with his isolationist view on life but I still like this photo. Maybe call it in the reversed style of Hopper.

I too support this suggestion, it would provide the viewer with fewer distractions.
