I like the subject matter, love the background and adore the sepia treatment....but there is one thing that is driving me crazy and I'm damned if I know why! Those 4 little circles on the inside of the bucket! :? :? :? :? :?
They remind me of a processing fault that can occur when you process film. Air bubbles......and my eye keeps getting drawn to them. They distract me more than they should for such small elements and I can't seem to be able to ignore them. Strange but true.

But Matt, those are what holds the handle to the bucket, and if they weren't there, all that lady's clothes and detergent would be spilled all over the bottom of the photo. :)

But seriously, I'm not sure that I like the sepia treatment; I don't know that it adds to this image, which is otherwise tells a great story.

Thank you for the comments. The reason for the sepia is that one of the cloth/clothes next to her is red and I found it a bit distracting.

This the colour version...

Guess whose mum doesn't have a Whirlpool? And I thought my grandpa's old Hoover twin tub was old fashioned.

Seriously a great image which starkly contrasts how easy we have it in the west. Maybe we're missing something though. We put our laundry in an automatic washing machine and go about our business. For these people, washing may be a social event in laid back, unhurried fashion.
