Hi everyone!

Happy new year!

Contrary to popular belief I did not leave earth on the Exomars pre-mission launch.... :P I would like to thank my password manager though.

Came across this picture on the net....

and thought, could I replicate it at home? The answer is, well not really. But one can dream.

I think they may have used a larger or double diffused soft box to get a smoother light.

I would appreciate critique, discussion of light/posing etc etc technique as appropriate. Can anyone else better it? If so, please post your attempt here. If you can't better it, then post your attempt here. :)

Thanks for looking.

Great portraits! Very good lighting, detail and I like the subject's pose. It is very difficult to replicate a photograph done with human subjects by another photographer, as there are so many variables. But, you did very well and should feel proud of your achievement.

Hi Zafra, yes you are right about the posing and expression/mood etc. Here I was trying more to imitate the general feel of it. I think I am about 30% there. Thanks for your comment, I feel quite happy about the picture. Infact, I have started to do a series of these for my extended family.

Howzit. ;) I see we keep bumping into each other on the road but not enough for photo taking. Hoping to join you guys one of these days. Waiting for the sunrises to get a little later than 4am.

Looking forward to your effort Gerry.

The point of this post was to stimulate more participation as well. We should have a prize for the first and 10th entrant.... :chook:

Indeed I do. The world has changed ... I'm trying to make some time to head across to HK in the next 18 months or so. I also need to spend more time in EU as well Not enough travel in my life. Too much work.

G'day Suren. Excellent image, although the Miami cap would be better as NYC... :biglaugh:

I've fallen off the photographic perch of late. Just can't get motivated to press the shutter. Too much travel and jet lag I think. Good to see some nice home grown photography.
