Playing with macro

I decided to break out the SB800 and home-made softbox again this afternoon but wanted to use something other than the 50 1.8, so I grabbed my Sigma 70-300 and put it into macro-mode , then off I went into the back yard.
Unfortunately it was a little windy and coupled with using manual focus (and shooting hand-held), provided me with quite a challenge. This lens isn't super sharp but I had fun and the images came out OK.

Here's a few from my backyard adventures.
All were shot using the SB800 as key light, triggered by in-built flash in commander mode (using manual flash settings):

270mm - 1/250 @ f22, ISO 800

300mm - 1/125 @ f16, ISO 800

195mm - 1/160 @ f29, ISO 800

Very nice photos Dave. I like the one with the bee best. I always found them difficult to photograph as the little demons are so quick.

Cheers Zafra. Yes they are very quick and quite often, just as I'd get my lens focused the little buggers would fly off - and when zoomed in at 200+mm it is so hard to track them and find them on nearby branches.
Good manual focusing practice though...
