Here is a pic that the people at work seem to like (unless they are being kind.)
What do you guys think?
Taken with the infamous Tamron 28-300 Di.

Hi Meicw,

It is a good image but I think maybe it was shot at the wrong time of day (you can't always avoid this though).

You have framed it well and the little bit of cloud breaks up the sky a bit...

I just can't help wondering what it would have looked like later (or earlier) in the day.

Cheers,

Hi meicw
I tend to agree that it may have looked better if shot in a different part of the day - however the tree has such great character, I still think this is a very good pic.

Did you do any PP on it ??

Great subject but as the others said, it's lacking a bit of interesting lighting. I reckon it would look good as a series of shots showing morning, afternoon and evening. This would be a good subject to try out other landscape techniques too. I'd love to see more. :)

G'day Mic,
As others have suggested try either early morning or late in the day to get some nice long shadows...
Terrific shot though, great subject and good framing, I really like old scraggly trees with their dead branches reaching out in vain... Interesting foreground too... I like it :)

When all else fails, photoshop it ;)

Not sure if it's because of the sky but as I look towards the top of the tree, it starts to become unfocussed

Setup the camera on a tripod. Take a deckchair and a good book and some shade and an esky. Take a shot at morning, lunchtime and evening :)

OK, here is one of the same tree that I took this morning at 0845. My preference is for the first one. I will see if I can take another one about 5-ish this afternoon, if the change with rain hasn't come through.
Here is also another pic of a footbridge on the path going to Latrobe Uni. BTW the only PP done is tweaking of the levels and the removal of a power pole in the bridge pic. Taken with the Tamron 28-300 Di.

Meicw- I'll leave the detailed analysis to someone else. I'll just say that I like it much better already! The tree is more dramatic and interesting than the first posting. The water fowl help the image too.
