Sunken Ship

ok, so it's not really a ship :P

This is my first attempt at keeping some of the color in a shot I've desurated and toned.

Not sure if it's working in this shot, but I think I like the effect anyway.

Now before I start, please let it be known I'm by no means an expert, so take this with a liberal pinch of salt if you like!

I would prefer to see a little more colour in the picture, its nearly B&W / nearly colour - sort of caught inbetween.

Also, do you have any more of the shot? I think it would look better with a little less water and a little more trees, so the boat (ship!) was moved down the picture a bit more - so its not sitting quite so central.

I think its a realy interesting picture, the sort of thing I was walking past without a second look before I got my D70, now I'm constantly looking for things I could snap!

I think it works well and well done for thinking outside the circle.

However, a tip is to over-saturate the photo before you create the hue layer so the colour can look a bit brighter as CC suggested. It might not have worked on this pic as it seems to be indicative of 'autumn' so the colours need to be a bit drab to create that effect.

I would have preferred to see no clipping of the boat on the left, but that's just being a bit picky i think.

Great photo and please, do some more for us to see :)

I like the colour you have included. It works well. Not sure about the suggestions on cropping - perhaps a little more of the boat on the left would have helped, but maybe there was something else there you didn't want :)

Excuse my ignorance, where is PA?

Wow, this one is really different because it's so subtle, in contrast to the standard 'red rose on B&W background' type of stuff. I like it! I agree with the others about wanting the whole boat, but sometimes these things happen. :)

yep, there was a huge ugly foam cooler visible if I'd shot anymore to the left :(

PA, as MCWB suggested is Pennsylvania, US.

It's sometimes better to get the ugly things and clone them out later than to miss part of your subject...

Couldn't resist playing with it... How about this crop?
