One of several scenes I plan on posting from an excursion yesterday to Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens near Pasadena, California. It's about 160 acres of gardens, art works and rare books.

The pillars are straight if you put a grid on them, but still look tilted, I think it's the cap that's somehow distorted by the WA for some weird reason. Kit lens at 18mm, f/8 1/100.

That looks like quite a pretty area, Steve. Nice capture. :) Hope the sunshine gives you lots of good photo ops! 8)

Hey Steve, looks like a nice little area.

Personally I reckon a tighter crop could improve, keeping the big tree and monument, but culling out some of the shadowed foreground and wasted space on the left ... *maybe*

I do like the path on the bottom right , makes my eyes follow it to the tree, then i want to walk to the monument.

Cheers

Mmmm...TGIF :D

Not sure if it's the jpeg conversion but the tree on the right has lost a bit of sharpness.

Great photo though :)

Thanks, Chris, that's precisely what I was aiming for.

darb - I think you're right that something a little better, but not too distracting, on the left would make for a better picture. That not being possible in shooting it, I feel that the huge darkish tree on the right needs some dark visual weight on the left side to balance things out. Anyway, it was my last shot of the day and I was getting very tired of lugging my equipment around.

I also think I should push the detail slider up a bit higher. They always look softer after I post them. Weird.
