Howdy all,

Been meaning to pop up some pics from a shoot i did last week with Sebastian. Finally got around to it now as a work avoidance tactic on friday afternoon... Seb is a mate of mine who is idly thinking about getting into some modelling.

Mostly shot with a big softbox high and to camera right and a small softbox behind him, floor level on camera left. 70-200 and 50mm lenses (can't remember which shots are which and too lazy to check :-) )

Any and all comments welcome. Rip 'em up guys!!

cheers,

adam

Did you get his phone number??

I love the 1st one. It looks like it's straight out of a Rodger David Catalogue! I quite like the 2nd and 3rd, the lighting is OK, not sure of the 4th one. He looks a bit uncomfortable!

I know absolutely nothing about studio photography and/or modelling, so I really can't comment on the technical aspects! But the 1st really did grab my attention, though there is a shadow under his chin and towards the left. Then again, if you tried to get rid of it , you would probably loose the nice moody shadows on his face!

Well done, and I wish him luck in his modelling. Are these going to be for his proposed folio??

These are really good shots Hedge :D

Great lighting effects.

One thing, The Lad needs a wax job or a pluck between his eye brows.

Good shots, I like a lot.

Mic.

Adam - one and three are excellent and show a very moody atmosphere which you have captured admirably :D

The photos are good. THe composition is great and the shots are nice and sharp. The lighting works for the subject. The first one might be just a smidge too dark in the shadows though.

But there is a dust bunny noticable on two pics.

I think your aspiring model should have a look at a fashion catalogue or FHM magazine adverts to get some ideas for poses that professionals use.

Well done. Hope to see more.

Hi Adam,

I know nothing about fashion photography, but these shots look good to me and not dissimilar to ones I've seen in magazines... Seb seems to have practised the moody pouting look that most models seem to display...

The first one looks great but perhaps you could work with the RAW file a bit and bring up some of the detail that is in shadow.

Hi all,

Sorry about the slow reply. Haven't been near a PC in days. About to head o/s but wanted to jump on and see what you'd all said!

Stormygirl - Thanks, i dig the first one also. I'm thinking a bit of tweaking in RAW and it might be a ripper. Agree about #4 but it was one of the only waist up ones i had and i liked the light behind his arms. The pics are for his portfolio I think. I'm not sure how serious he is but it was practice for me anyways so no complaints there!

Mic - Cheers! And agree with the eyebrows. Will politely mention that to him next time. I wonder if there is a "pluck" or "wax" tool in photoshop....

Chris - cheers mate. I'm trying to get a handle on shadowed photos at the moment. Glad people like them!

Steve - yeah, i'm badly overdue to give the sensor a cleanup. Going to try blowing it out today! Also agree on the posing idea. I asked him to pull some pics from mags to try but he didn't get around to it. He def needs to practice if he's going to ask for $$$ for modelling!

John - cheers. I don't know much about it myself but it was fun trying! He does have the look doesn't he? Mate of mine reckons its the "Dissaffected youth" look :-)

Kipper - thanks mate. I plan on doing some tweaking down the line.

cheers all, have fun!
