Bad accident

This photo is a scanned image of my youngest son. I have a higher res version but he was looking over my shoulder tonight (yes he's still alive!) and wanted me to post it. I told him I needed to find the higher res version but I had to post this one to avoid the tears.
I love the look on his face (he is still in shock) and the mood of the shot. Sorry for the resolution, what do you think? Head hit toilet roll holder. 14 stitches and 2 nights in hospital.

Ahh yes ... would have been better for me to retouch the annoying background shadow?

This picture is very confronting and has tremendous impact. I didn't even notice the shadow, as I was simply hooked by his very authentic and genuine expression and the gash on his head. You took the picture from a slightly higher angle which is good as it gives us a good view of the gash, but it also forces him to look up slightly which for some reason adds mood. I would be really proud of this shot, and think that it is one with real staying power. In years from now I think he will and should treasure it.
Really sorry about the accident, but I'm really glad I saw the picture.

That Attack of the Killer Toilet Roll Holders ???
As a movie title, I think it lacks something, but great shot.

Ouch!!!!!
Your son's expression is priceless. I think if i did the same thing i'd have an expression similar to that one too although i'd probably have a beer in my hand as well.
These photos are what memories are

Double ouch for that!
Excellent photo Marcus! I wouldn't worry about the shadows - it's the moment that is captured so well here.
Your son doesn't look too happy right now, and understandably so, but that photo in 20 years time will bring the family reminiscences flooding back.
Hope you and your son's mum are OK - often these things can be worse on the parents.
Tell your son to keep his chin up. He is a brave lad indeed.
Cheers
Graham

That's one lethal toilet roll holder. Do you have a photograph of the culprit?
Ok, mental note to anybody going to Marcuses house. Don't go to the toilet!

Wow!
Glad to see that he's okay.
That's a good photo. It certainly seems to capture the essence of the situation.

Your son obviously hurt himself and probably had a tear or two but the main thing is that he is OK. I hope the toilet roll holder was quitely removed and shot
The pic does not have to be technically perfect because it conveys an image that will be remembered. Your son is carrying his trophy of an incident with pride - very nice pic

When I was a kid we used a 3inch nail in the back of the dunny door to hold the paper (Sunday Telegraph pages torn into 1/4ers).
What doyou use, a Samuri Sword???
The kid will be OK and should be able to use it to his advantage to get out of school.
Bad timeing, school holidays.
Cheers Rick

Marcus,
As a mother of 3 boys who have had their share of accidents I certainly sympathise with you and your wife. That is a nasty cut - quite traumatic for all concerned. I hope that you are all recover soon. The photo (which certainly tells a story) will be a trophy in the not too distant future. One of my boys when younger fell on a fallen branch and a twig went right through the palm of his hand. A hospital job yet again. The hospital gave us the twig in a speciman container and you wouldn't believe the number of times over the years it has been presented very proudly to surprised visitors.

I seriously want to see this toilet roll. I'm amazed at what damage it has caught. As a child I was always knocking my head about. Was taken to the hospital atleast 5-6 times requiring stitches. From slipping on oil at a car show room to falling off a chair and smacking my head against a radiator. But nothing as severe as this.

He is a brave lad. The repair job is beautifully stitched...must have had a good doctor. Hope he heals quickly.

Ouch!!!
That's an awful lot of stitches...
He'll probably have a scar he'll be proud of for the rest of his life... You'd better think of a better story for him though... One without toilet roll holders
Hope Saxon recovers quickly...

Hi all, thanks for your comments.
I must tell you all now that this happened 18 months ago..I should have mentioned this in the initial post! He is fine. He is an independent little man and was learning to wipe his own backside. The whole thing is a bit of a blur to him but as far as we can figure out he stood on top of the toilet seat to reach the nappy wipes we leave on the window cill. He has reached out too far and fallen hitting his head (and breaking the porcelane toilet roll holder).
Dooda: Thanks, I agree the "looking upward" factor certainly helped the aesthetics of the shot.
Rick: No...I now know porcelane is a very dangerous and sharp thing when broken. Especially when your head breaks it!
Killa, Bags100, Kerry, MCWB, boxer boy, Matt K, leek....thanks for your comments.
Mr Rotty, Kipper, Gary, Chris, Mark T...........I will post a shot of the culprit when I find the print and scan it. There were actually fine blonde hairs hanging off it (the toilet roll holder) when we got home and I checked it all out.
redpoppy: hospital is a 3 or 4 times a year visit for us. My two boys regularly visit this place. I was there only 2 months ago when my eldest son (12 years) got hit by a car whilst riding his bike. He is also OK, lucky boy! I hope god is looking over you with your 3.

OMG thats shocking
As a mother of 2 I know what it's like...not only for the poor kids either! Mine have been to hospital only once each ( A suspicious looking rash, and dinner shoved up their nose
), thankfully nothing too serious at all....but this?? WOW....I hate the sight of blood, especially if it's from your own children. Your poor, poor Son, and of course everyone else in the family. I'm sure he was such a brave little boy...it really must have hurt.
Who got the job of cleaning the toilet floor??
The circumstances that this photo was taken are horrific, but in terms of memories...it's priceless.
So, I guess he doesn't stand on the toilet anymore.....

Glad to know your little tacker is alright Marcus,
Myself, I hate looking at such an image
But I suppose I would fall off the dunny seat and crack my head open too if I witnessed my old man dressing up like you do.
Glad he & everybody concerned is o.k. and you can look back on it and still enjoy each others company.
Mic.

Marcus, you have confirmed what I thaught.
Woody and I were talking about this last night & he wondered how anyone could get a cut like your son's from a toilet roll holder.
I said it would have to be a porcelane one that broke when his head hit it.
Speaking from experience (about 6 years earning a living renovating bathrooms) I know how sharp it can be, I think the samurai sword option would be safer.
