Death Valley - Badwater Basin

After a lunch break at the visitors' Center at Furnace Creek, it was off to Badwater Basin.
Badwater basin is on the valley floor; 200 feet below sea level. Quite warm in October, but bloody hot in mid-summer. In one of the images you can see, off to the left in the distance, lots of people walking out into the basin. Don't do this unless you have a bottle of water with you.
Fresh water: the water here is a natural spring, but contains mineral salts and is not drinkable. and as you're below sea level and in a valley, this water never drains into an ocean.
