Death Valley - Artists' Pallette

One of the most amzing things within Death Valley is the colours. Or the absence of them.
The colours are many and varied, but also somewhat monotone, which is perhaps why photos of Death Valley look so damn good in B&W. I am hoping to convert some of these to mono versions in the not too dstant future, but for now I'm just enjoying the variety of tonal contrasts that wre evident here.
Our final stop was here, where the rock faces resemble somewhat an actual pallette that an artist might use. And then there's the blue-green colour here, which our tour guide assures us is iron oxide, although to me it looks more like it might be copper.
Again, SOOC, resized only.
