Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

ArtesonadoI know the picture is slightly of center, but sometimes when you look up with a camera there are obstacles in your way that do not allow you to position yourself where you want to be. Artesonado (Carved wooden ceiling) is a type of intricately joined wooden ceiling in which supplementary laths are interlaced into the rafters supporting the roof to form decorative geometric patterns. The pattern reminds you of Jewish and Moorish decorative elements and it is found in Spanish architecture of the Middle Ages.
Re: ArtesonadoThe workmanship and time it takes is amazing.
Re: ArtesonadoThank you Tony. It's laborious work for sure, but in those days the workers worked for very little.
Re: ArtesonadoI wasn't aware of the word "artesonado" but yes it's amazing and found all over Europe I imagine.

Re: ArtesonadoThe word "artesonado" refers to this type of woodwork found in medieval Spanish buildings. In this case, it looks like a synagogue or mosque. However, you may find this intricate wood-workmanship also in some European buildings - maybe not with the same motifs.
Re: Artesonado
Maybe, just maybe one day I could travel to Europe without work schedules and just enjoy it's people and architecture for a few months? One can only dream! President, A.A.A.A.A (Australian Association Against Acronym Abuse)

Re: ArtesonadoIn my case it's family. I love every one of them but they take so much time of your holiday. But, without my family and friends we would never had seen or visited so many places.
