Storm season

It seems the NSW north coast is in a never ending storm season. My guess is that it will be like this for the entire summer. With that comes never ending humidity and rain, but also spectacular skies, especially after a storm. Last night we were treated to a perfectly formed and coloured rainbow which seemed to last for ever. Then came the fruit bats who grace our skies each and every evening at dusk, in their thousands, flying to orchards somewhere to fill their little bellies before returning to their trees to sleep upside down all day long.

Wabbit season!

Somewhere, over the wainbow ...

I love the first. The darkness - but it's not quite foreboding - of the sky, with the birds and the rainbow. I must comment though on how nice it was of those pigeons to pose for you like this.

Can't help with the pigeon pie, but here's an old bush recipe for cooking galah.

Place your galah into a large pot of water, with a couple of good sized rocks.

Bring the water to a rolling boil, and then bring it down to a simmer.

Allow it to simmer until the rocks are soft; discard the galah and eat the rocks.

I'm not qualified to make such a comment.
