Traditional dress (Salamanca, Spain)When visiting Salamanca with friends a few years ago we were having afternoon coffee when we heard the sounds of flute, drums and singing; we came out to check what such commotion was about. A parade of people dressed in regional costumes was passing through the street carrying flower offerings with an image of Our Lady of the Vale. The “Offering” is a celebration to thank and honour the Holy Virgin. On the 15th of August, the local people in their regional costumes take the Virgin through the streets and place it in front of the cathedral with lots of flower arrangements.
Re: Traditional dress (Salamanca, Spain)Love Salamanca. I spend a fair bit of time near Zamora, just down the road.
