The Transitional Cathedral of Christchurch (NZ), as it is also called, was built entirely from recycled materials after the 2011 earthquake. The Anglican cathedral was in ruins so they built this beautiful building with a final price tag of NZ$5.9 million. Ironically, this modern building, despite of being cheaper, is more flexible and more capable of resisting earthquakes than the old stone cathedral, now under repair. This A frame church is covered externally (roof and walls) with water resistant material; while its metal frame is covered with hardened cardboard. The building is full of light and has a good feeling about it. This church opened its doors sheltering Muslims and allowing them to worship on 15 March 2019 following the terrorist attack on two mosques nearby. I hope you like it.
