Bruges is also known as the Venice of the North. Bruges is a major tourism destination within Belgium. In fact, there was so many tourists in the historical centre when we visited last year that I had the overwhelming impression I was in a theme park. However, Bruges with its ancient buildings (this city golden age was from the 12th to 15th centuries) and canals is a very pretty place.
