Flamish Nativity (León Cathedral)

This polychrome wooden jewel stages the mystery of the Nativity of Christ. Above the portal, a mountainous, steep landscape is reproduced, with bushes, sheep and goats. The shepherds remain attentive to the angels who announce the news. Everything is done with great care, combining flamenco realism with a perfect idealization. This work was made when the Flemish artists of the fifteenth century were carving the choir stalls in the cathedral in the fifteenth century.

Merry Christmas
