Hello all
Went for a bit of a drive this afternoon down to Bradleys Head, lots of boats and stuff going on but this was my keeper for the day. PP involved a custom curve and some contrast tweaking. Keen to hear your thoughts.

I see what you were trying to do and it works well for me. For this photo to be better the sun would be a little lower giving the subject more detail, and the left side would be less blown out. Obviously that probably wasn't possible.

You have used what was available to you and turned what i think would have been an average happy snap into a real attention grabber.

The amount of detail in the silhouette fits the style of the shot perfectly.

Bruno - love it - my only suggestion would be to duplicate the shot in PS and crop out the left hand side with the blown highlights - but keep both

Bruno, I like it, reminds me of the surfing posters I had on my wall in the 70's, but they had waves rather than the city in the background. Very nice

Strange how we all react differently to the same image. I'm with Geoff I'm afraid - this doesn't grab me. I think it just has way too much white.

A nice effect with a sunset ........ Try playing with the shot a bit more to see if you can retain some shadow detail......

I too like this shot, and while I'd also like to see more detail in the shadow areas, I think that the blown out sunset really gives this image a certain feel and is what makes it work.

I had another look at the image this morning and gave it another go in PS.
I liked the feel of the original but i wanted to get back some of the detail in the shaddow. Also experimented with anoter crop. Hope it shows on your monitors...

nice low key shot but the blowout of the cityscape and its lack of detail really draws attention away from your subject.

As a critic of the first shot I'm happy to say this one works for me. Much less white and more focus given to your girlfiend's profile. Shows what can be done with some judicious PP.

I'm betting you'll now get others who preferred the first version . Viva La Difference!

Glad you like the 2nd version. I still presonally like the crop of the first, but i do prefer the detail from the 2nd. Critisism is the only way to get better so i will take any, good or bad. I think photography is all about seeing and reacting and its interesting to see what people thought about my work.

Hi, I like the blown highlights! I think it is a great photo but the foreground is distracting... how about a crop removing just at the right of the models head and losing some of the foreground.. that may be interesting?
