The world is not always what it seems to be

I got my new Nikon zoom lens last night (after dark) and had to throw it on to play with it.

Ok - I'm a newbie but love the fact that when you stop looking at the world @ 1:1 aspect ratio it looks so much more interesting !

This is the first shot I show people and ask them what they see....what do you see (in the first 2 seconds)

Image

Then see the this shot to view in 1:1 context....isn't up close much better , although I always had my doubts about Indian food LOL.

OK so the focusing isn't perfect etc blah but it was the subject that mattered and I like the reflections/light effects BTW there is no post processing :)

Fire away with the comments (use rubber bullets please :) )

Cheers,
Adam

What lens did you get?

I knew it wasn't grubs or anything 'cos the meat and some vegies in the dish gave it away :P

You'll enjoy the macro world, it's a whole different perspective.

Correct me if I'm wrong but that lens wouldn't be 1:1 would it? More like 1:2, or 1:4?

pippin88,

The Nikon 28-200 G lens does not have the macro capability as the Sigma or Tamron in this range, and it's standard zoom lens.

Yes you are correct it is not a macro lens but it focuses very close @ zoom and produces 'macro like' :) - my other lens does macro (sigma 18-50mm DC - 1:3.5) so more playing there.

We have some resident gecho's *my wife has named* who are about to become stars LOL
