Excellent action shot...but the colour balance seems to be way too warm on my monitor. The black tyre is not neutral. I opened the image in PS and adjusted by -34 cyan and that improved the colours. Even PS's auto colour did a good job. Do you have a new monitor?

Yup, same as Matt, the image is definitely too warm. Superb capture though, any more from your shoot? :)

Hi Matt,

I must admit, I was lazy and choose autolevels in PS.
Well spotted and thanks for your comment.
The original without auto level is this:

Hi MCWB,

there are some few more shots here:

I now conclude that lazyness doesn't pay - I shouldn't have
selected auto levels in PS.

Thanks Christian! Looks like number 1 could have used some elbow pads. 70-200 VR I presume?

Hi redline,

thank you for your input.
What are the focussing techniques that you are applying in motorsports
for example ?
I'm struggling between too much DOF and too little DOF on a moving object that is heading towards me.
How do you manage ?

to me i think the photo looks a bit cropped correct me if iam wrong?
any i usually use af-c - dynamic af modes.
but i think what happened in your photo is that your have use a shutter speed which gives the wheel treads a blurred look, but resulted in slightly blur rider hence lack of sharpness. how fast was the shutter speed?

Thanks redline,

I actually pre-focussed on the area where I thought the object would appear,
then switched the camera to manual focus and left the focus there.
Shutter speed 1/250,
aperture f4
focal length 90mm

Bye for now.

Colour purrfect! Try this to add a little punch. In PS go to FILTERS/UNSHARP MASK and try the following settings...20/40/0
That should give it a nice little pop.

I would also boost the sat a little...

Paid shoot? What bike park? Do they mind people shooting?

Hi Matt,

I tried your suggestion, FILTERS/UNSHARP MASK 20/40/0
Interesting result, I like it.

Thanks very much
