Fill light on hot afternoon sunThis butterfuly species are very active. They hardly keep still. This one is unusual. It is one of the pair that like to perch on that plant. Probably mating season I guess. D70 + AFS 300 F4 + TC1.4X + SB 800. 1/500 f16. Handheld. Very strong afternoon sun - backlight. Had to use flash to fill light and 1/500 to allow handholding. regards, Arthur
That's a pretty good shot, Arthur. Fill flash worked well, it seems. You might consider cropping some on the right.

That's a very sweet shot, Arthur. Finely detailed and softly textured. There may be just a little too much of the relatively blank area on the right side and this might work better as a more square image IMO.
Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now.
