My backyard

Well, it's not literally my backyard, but it's pretty darn close. These pictures were taken near Banff Alberta. It's only about 1 hour from my home. The location is called Johnston Canyon. The pictures aren't very colorful, well, because it's not. Still waiting for the blooming season.

I desatured this picture a little bit, because I liked the way it looks.

They are beautiful! I like 2, 3 and 5 best. What shutter speed did you use for the waterfall one?

Thanks
Alex

I think that you should convert these to Black and white Neeps. They look terrific.

Might not be a bad idea considering the colors are bland. May as well remove them all! :)

Why are the most interesting looking trails always closed?

The last shot is getting into the Adams class and will probably look even more so when converted to B & W

Ansel Adams, one of the greatest landscape photographers.

There you were the other day saying you'd love to have great landscape to shoot like we do. So what do you call this? :)

The temp here is warm spring time condition. There's lots of melting going on in the mountains. Today in the city it was +20, in the mountains where I was it was probably about +13.

Kipper, when I meant nice landscape, I really meant beachs and oceans. I know I take the mountains here for granted, seeing how I've lived here most of my life. But I now that I have this D70, I will be appreciating it more.

So you're fairly inland. Guess that kind of sucks then not being able to see the ocean. Find yourself some nice clear blue lakes and make do instead :)

Neeper, fantastic photos. I spent 5 months in Canada (1 month in Alberta, 4 months in B.C) many years ago and the images bring back heart felt memories for me. I love Canada and it is my #2 place to reside on this earth.
I wish I was more into photography during my time there, although I do have some nice images thanks to my travelling companion. It is a beautiful country and a place that I felt most at home during all of my travels. I guess thats why theres so many Aussies there!
Love to see some B&W conversions as others have suggested. Keep up the great work!

Nice images JT. I just hated the rough bokeh in the third (log). You need a new lens mate... I know someone who can help you out. ;)

Beautiful captures, makes me wanna go to Canada.

Hi Christine! Nice to finally see you on here! Hope to see you posting pictures soon as well. Maybe we can start a D70 chapter here in Calgary :D . But we need to find our own Birddog so we can play with lenses. Know of anyone?

Well, Vancouver is the closest ocean to us. It's about 1000km away. I used to live there too, but imo Calgary is such a wonderful place to live. BTW, your handle name "kipper" is quite the famous/popular name around here. This time, last year, there were millions of Flames fan (NHL Hockey) chanting that exact name.
