Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Nikon D70 ,Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED VR AF
1/320s f/5.6 at 400.0mm hand held ISO was probably 400 or 800.

Majestic bird!
Although the image seems a little soft (commenting, not criticising), the haughty air of the eagle dominates the pic.
I like it a lot. :D

Yep, you've done this eagle justice (and I've seen my fair share of Eagle picks, I live in Brackendale the Eagle capital).

There is an air of coldness in this pic that I like. It is rugged and crisp. When I was fishing in Alaska there were as many eagles in the trees as there were crows. When we caught trash (bass etc) we bashed them on the head and threw them back. Eagles were always on the ready to feast on these free meals. Generally as the Eagle flew down to the fish it locks eyes with whoever threw it as if it were trying to read you, at the last moment it looked down and grabbed the fish, and while flying away it would always look back over at you before going to it's nest. This usually happened 5 or 6 times a day and I never tired of it. They are sometimes romanticized as savvy hunters but %95 of what they eat is scavenged.

Nice capture of the eagle. I like especially the "air" that you captured of the eagle. I wish the fence wasn't there.

regards,

Arthur.

Thanks to all for the kind comments! :D This shot, like so many of mine, was edited on a lousy laptop while I was living in a DC hotel for 6 months. I've been meaning to go back and edit them properly, now that I'm home and have a decent machine and monitor, but the problem is the numbers of images. I think I've got about 1,500 shots on pbase from this time period.... woof....

Love the pic.
Did you use a mask for the sharpening?? Reason I ask is that there seems to be a bit of a halo around the beak and breast.
Smile; it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Thanks Robboh. :) hmm, dunno about the halo. Hadn't noticed it before. Good catch! :D As I said earlier, this was edited on a laptop, last summer, so I don't recall what editing was done.

Thanks for the kind comments, Dee. :D There are eagles around these parts as well, but they're few and far between. I haven't seen one up close in many years.
