Onyx - they are very sharp pics. I assume that it was something to do with the fire brigade or a rescue mission being portrayed in the shots.

Why would the fire brigade make his photos sharper???

Cos the fire brigade has the fire engine and it uses lot of water to wash their gears same as make it cleaned then the other parties

Hi matey, done well nice pics lots of colour and yes it's good to capture moments like this, right place right time who knows mate sell to newspaper and really leave your mark in Hong Kong.

Chris, from the exif it seems like the D70 with the kit lens. Now if I had that combo, I could take shots as good as these ones Chi took

Sham Shui Po has the mall with the roller coaster that goes around the top at about 8 stories? I remember that well - it was amazing when the Kai Tak airport was there as the planes would fly 100 metres above the apartment buildings...

Thanks for the comments guys. Yep the Apliu flea markets is a haven for electronics junkies. MP3 players for $HK200 anyone? That's like the price of 2 CDs in Oz! A pack of 4 Sanyo 2500mAh NiMH batteries for under $AU10, and many fake watch and dodgy mobile phone vendors.
I used the 35 f/2 and the kit lens interchangeably in the above pics. Number 1 and 2 you see here (named fire2 and fire3) are with the 35 f/2. I love this lens, I was originally set on getting the 50/1.4, but due to other people buying all of HKSupplies' stock, I settled for the 35mm (becoming close to 'normal' with the DX sensor) costing around the same price.
The lens is marvellous. Very useable field of view (more so than a 50 on a DSLR IMHO), it does fantastic landscapes (I'll post a few taken from Cheung Chau Island later), close focuses to 25cm - so it can do decent to good macro's, and gives nice bokeh. It's VERY sharp, but does suffer from CA a bit when shot wide open with bright details against dark background (or vice versa).
