This shot was taken by my best friend, Tom Storm. We both picked up D70's at almost the same time and have been critiqueing eachother's stuff since. It's such a blast learning photography together. I'm posting both of these with his permission.

I call it the 'Surreal Hands of Time', becuase his original shot is titled 'Hands of Time', seen here:

By coincidence, I am just re-reading Steinbeck's epic American novel "The Grapes of Wrath", where he describes the dust-bowl conditions of farms in Oklahoma during the depression, which forced people off their farms to a sort of exodus to California. His word-pictures of the land and the people on the land are outstanding.

Tom's original pic just screams at me of the hardships faced by Joad family in the novel, as they prepare to leave their Oklahoma farm.

Terrific image.
