This shot was taken by my best friend, Tom Storm. We both picked up D70's at almost the same time and have been critiqueing eachother's stuff since. It's such a blast learning photography together. I'm posting both of these with his permission.

This is my Post-Processing take on one of his shots:

I call it the 'Surreal Hands of Time', becuase his original shot is titled 'Hands of Time', seen here:

As always, critiques welcome.

P.S.

on a side note, I'm trying to get him to come join us here and post some of his own stuff. He's got a far better eye for photogrphy than I do.

Love both of them. Did you do any contrast enhancement in PS or is it as shot???

Without pre-empting the judges' decision - definite POTW material. Awesome shots!

Nice pic from storm. I really like the original.

By coincidence, I am just re-reading Steinbeck's epic American novel "The Grapes of Wrath", where he describes the dust-bowl conditions of farms in Oklahoma during the depression, which forced people off their farms to a sort of exodus to California. His word-pictures of the land and the people on the land are outstanding.

Tom's original pic just screams at me of the hardships faced by Joad family in the novel, as they prepare to leave their Oklahoma farm.

Terrific image.
