That was one place I didn't get to while I was in the UK. It was only about 30minutes up the road too :(

The architecture of the Arundel castle looks fascinating, and a pub nearby to boot! What more could you ask :-)

Interesting subjects, BP. It's hard to imagine living in those times gone by.

I love Arundel Castle, and lived not far from it when I was in the UK.

Man, I cant wait to go back now - the place is totally awesome. Its only when you leave that realise how cool it is.

And drinking a nice (warm) real ale in an English pub with a backdrop such as Arundel castle has to be one of the best pleasures in the world.
A lovely pint of Flowers, or Old Speckled hen mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

It's not really warm. Geezus, why do people carry on saying it's warm. Just because it doesn't turn your saliva into ice doesn't mean it's warm.
I was there during winter and drank many lagers at various pubs. Were they ice cold, no.....nor would I want them to be. Were they warm....no. They were probably just right. A similar temperature to some of the establishments in Melbourne, perhaps you Aussies have finally cottoned on that serving it too cold is wrong.

We pour the beer over ice and try to drink it before the ice melts, because it is hot and sunny one day and perfect the next.......

Traditional English ale is supposed to be chilled rather than cold, most pubs worth there salt keep a cellar at about 55 degrees fahrenheit.

Too warm and the beer is flat and too cold and you can't taste it.
