This blighter just attacked me whilst mowing the front yard. Seemed like the perfect excuse to shoot it
What do you think??

Correct species (Masked Lapwing). Correct treatment (Shoot it).

Although you deserve a good peck on the head for attempting to mow your lawn on a day like today anyway. Today is for sitting back with a bottle of red and a good DVD. Put that stupid mower away and get real Steve. (That grass is nowhere near long enough to worry about yet.)

Just re-read your post. I'm surprised it took time out from mowing to attack you....

Great shot by the way. Which lens were you using?

They can be pesky birds especially when they are nesting.

Manta everyone is expected to chip in around here - even the wildlife. You should have seen the koala's in action today  .

I used my old 80-240 Nikkor that I got in a F80 kit a couple of years ago. Apeture Priority, 240mm, F5.6, 1/1000

Great image Steve. :D
Love the saturated colours.
Those plovers can be dangerous - we have a bunch of them at the golf club, and woe betide any golfer who ventures near their nests.
They get real tricky too - you often see a parent limping around dragging a pretend busted wing to lure predators (and golfers) away from the nest.

Looks like a colorful seagull with a growth on it's nose. He should see a doctor about that!
