lonely Jersey Cream

This pic didn't excite me too much at first so I saved it for last. I cloned out this huge map and people on the bottom right, increased the contrast and of course the BW conversion as well as the sepia look which I really like. I'd love for you to tell me what you think. The end result I like, but I don't usually do this much cloning and selecting. Thanks a lot for all of your critique.

That's a good question Redline that I really don't know the answer to. Milk from Jersey perhaps? A really cool glacier?

Mic: those are globs of snow. It had snowed reasonably the night before but it was heavy heavy snow so when the wind came through it blew huge chunks of it everywhere.

picture was driving me nuts till I figured it out


it's a ski area, and the sign is depicting the name of the slope, and the black diamond signifies the difficulty. . .

Right, except that particular is a blue square (just slightly less difficulty). The actual run is just below the picture and drops off to the left. You can actually take a Tbar up the other side and then hike a little bit and come down the far left hand side when the conditions permit. Looks fun but it tends to be kind of mogilly.

Great capture of the season that was; lean on snow and harsh on conditions.
At what point of the season was it taken at Dooda!? I was there from Dec through Jan.
Possibly a very silly question but, whats the speckles in the sky?

Hi click, those are globs of snow. If got the hell out of there by early January I think you may have missed the 2 months of balmy pineapple rainstorms that came through mid jan and washed it all away. All was nearly lost when snow finally hit in mid to late march, and gave us atleast 7 feet of the lovely white fluffy stuff. Late March to latet April was one of the best on record. This was the day after the last of the storms. The snow was heavy and clumpy (perfect for boarding) and there was tons of it with gusts of wind sending it everywhere. The speckles are huge globs of snow getting blown everywhere. Since it has been sunny and hot, melting the snow for great wet spring conditions (great for a board). I remember seeing people in Jan come and go with their skis thinking "there's a guy who spent a lot of money in the bar wondering why he didn't check the conditions on the internet first. If me memory serves me, Dec wasn't too bad.
FWIW Whistler was one of the only mountains on the coast to stay open. Even Baker closed, and that's saying something.

Yeah Whistler's season was pretty bad in Jan, but yeah Dec was fun... Certainly did'nt phaze me though... It was better than our conditions in Aus. Park crew did a amazing job to keep everything 'hittable' (the only reason i went really!)
Spent a bit of time in Baker...they're April was mindblowing apparently!
Baker is dope!

p.s. you will have lotsa great subjects to shoot in the downtown area once you move....how bout street photography on east hastings???? i wish i could do it b/c it would be interesting stuff...if only you dont get stabbed during the photo shoot...

Hey Dee,

Yeah, I went out and scoped a couple of shots on Granville, as well as a couple of back alleys. It will be a really different experience as there are people everywhere, many of them with nothing to do but sit around and look at you. I spent a lot of time on East Hastings as a punk Rock kid, going to Army and Navy etc, so I'm not that nervous about it...well maybe a little bit. It's just so crowded, it's hard to isolate the subjects. I think Gastown will be a place to hang out as there are so many tourists that have cameras out I might blend in a little more while capturing the other side of life. There are also the prostitutes etc that might make for an interesting photo essay.
