Thank you for your replies and welcome. I am very new to the DSLR world.
I am still learning the camera itself (menus, settings, ect...). I have taken lots of pics, but blindly. Meaning setting the camera and shooting and seeing what happens. I am eager to learn how to set up the shot before it happens.
Example, the following pic i did not know that the background would be out of focus. The picture below was the first shot and then i zoomed in on this shoot. I would say i was about 8' from the subject.
This is the shot just before the above shot.
