I find it difficult with my 180 to obtain sharp shots hand held so you have done exceptionally well but...
It's amazing what a different Gitzo makes

I must admit hand held is not easy, but this lens is very well balanced in the hand.
Long weekend is coming up 14-16th May (Adelaide Cup Day), so I will get everything together (Gitzo G-1327 tripod/SB-800) and hopefully do a better job, subject to weather of course.
Glen - at the same time I will do comparison shots (Nikon AF 200mm f/4 D ID ED, as against Sigma APO 150mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM , ie identical settings and report back early next week.
mudder - according to Ron Reznick:
The lens is very good at all apertures between f/4 and f/11, but it is best used at wider apertures only at longer range or with a subject that requires maximum isolation at shorter range... f/8 to f/11 provides best results at very close range.]
BTW: Thank you to everyone for your opinions and comments.
