One again the background was darkened & I was left with a bit of a magical effect.
It's hard to control the blown highlight, but I think it sort of adds to it.

That's a great effect Mic, love the abstract feel of the rose.

Another great stunner, Mic.

I often use the lasso to isolate a highlight area (or three) before adjusting levels to avoid that problem.

I'd really like to know what settings you used in the Channel Mixer on the B&W rose you posted recently. That was a great one, too! I haven't had anywhere near that kind of success with it yet on flowers.

Thanks Steve, Didn't think of that :? Thanks.

It's just a matter of playing around with it Steve, the Channel Mixer I mean

Sometimes the Blue channel works but on some it doesn't, the red seems to do a better job. Then it's a matter of playing with some contrast, some curves. ( and a good glass of Red helps )

The shot has to have a darker background, this rose seemed to lift out of the shot originally. If you click onto my Web Link below, you will see the original Orange Rose.

Cheers,

Mic.

Oh, I forgot to Steve,

You can do a Vignette in the Raw Adjustments as well, that helps to darken the background as well.
