A bunch of flowers... a bud and some berries...

I spent another hour in my favourite flower garden (Swain Gardens in Lindfield) to practice my macro shooting using my new Nikkor 105mm Micro and the SB-800... The natural light was fading and I used very narrow apertures which explains why almost all of these were underexposed (initially)...

I still have a lot of work to do to master the focussing on this lens and the flash in general, but here are the results... What do you think?

As always, click for more pixels...

I really, really want one of these lenses, you people are making me sick with envy.

John, my suggestion.....go even closer. I love in-your-face macros...close up the stamens and such. I think that is where the beauty lies in macro....seeing the bits we don't normally see really, really close.

But, that is after all just my opinion.

Cheers
Deb

John - given the choice of the VR or the macro you have chosen the macro to experiment with. The world close up holds more fascination than anything else IMO. Great pics and I am sure there will be many more to come.

Thanks for your feedback guys... Still lots to learn... All of these were horribly underexposed and I needed to bump up the Exposure in the RAW file by 2 stops in order to get these for display.

I agree Deb - I need to get closer, but the natural light wasn't very good and I was having trouble focussing in the low light...

Here's one closer example that I forgot to post:
