If they are only a couple of cm across, I'd say they are the fruit of one of the nightshade family, maybe even deadly nightshade.

look like Thai Eggplant to me. Are they about 1 x 1.5 cm?? Hot as all get out to taste??

Thanks everyone. I have no idea what it is. Picture is taken at SugarLoaf Reservior near the water edge at 4pm. It look like a very tough plant as the place is filled with rocks, stones and pebbles.
