Haven't posted in a while, was out in Manly earlier on today, took some shots, then went into Coles...

Geoff, Coles should pay you, the fruit looks great and I am viewing it at lunch time

Geoff, I really like the shots but did anyone ask you what you were doing, in Coles? Or did you carry that "I'm official" persona of photojournalists who get away with it? I'm fascinated, because it wouldn't have occurred to me to snap away in Coles but now I can see the possibilities are endless.

Forunately at the time the store wasn't busy at all, I had one guy look at me a bit oddly..I took most of these as surreptitiously as possible. It was only that I had my camera around my neck when I walked into the shop that I thought it'd be fun to take a few snaps. Fortunately no one asked me to stop taking photos

Next week there'll be posters hanging up in Coles banning the use of cameras in case you take indecent photos of fruit

I've already been told by the manager of the two Bondi Junction stores (same guy; runs both) that we're not permitted to take photos within the store.

This was when they were putting the "date baked" onto their croissants, putting them onto the shelves under the huge "Fresh Baked Daily" signs, and the croissants were three days old!

And it was a month after I'd first drawn this to their attention, and they had clearly done nothing to address what the manager agreed was a problem.

Geoff, there's no way that those images could be of fruit in a Coles (or Woolies) store. It looks entirely fresh and edible, which is not what you find in those stores.

So please tell us where you really shot them.

It is true Gary, these were shot in Coles Manly, I couldn't quite believe it myself.. Bel can vouch for the fact that I shot these in a Coles supermarket. Strange, but true.

Fresh baked daily doesn't mean the stuff under the sign was baked today. It just means they bake fresh ones every day. That's why they use those words as opposed to freshly baked today.

These shots almost make me want to go and buy some fresh fruit from Coles and Woolies... but then I wake up to myself and remember the times I've bought watermelon and kiwi berries and so much other fruit that's already been off when I bought it (yet the packaging said otherwise)...

Geoff, I like Num 1 but I would like it a bit darker for my tastes which doesn't suit a lot of folk.

I like the idea of the single coloured fruit shots. A good series there.
Just one questions though.. I know the grass is always greener on the other side, but I didn't know apples where shinier on the other side...
wow, they're some high-gloss apples. The Supermarket employ someone to turtlewax them every morning ?

Geoff, correct me severely if I'm wrong, but those "apples" look like tomatoes to me! Then again, maybe a tomato is a fruit. Hang on, my wife and 13 yo daughter assure me it is a fruit because the seeds are on the inside, which also means that a strawberry is a vegetable!
