Macro with 800mm

Thought I would post a shot about doing things the hard way. Noticed this flower growing on my neighbours wall about 7 metres in the air. Too high for the macro but thought it could be seen from my rear deck so got out the Nikon 400 5.6, added the Nikon 2X TC and voila. The flower is about 4-5 cm across.

Obviously I am sick of paperwork and wanted a break over lunch today, next time I will just find a flower on the ground!

Full size no crop

mic,
Now you know why I wanted big zoom lenses with fast f. and VR.
So I can cut and run easy if get caught red handed without a tripod

And it's the main reason why most men want the big zoom

Nah it's ok. 400MM without a TC isn't enough reach for me.
No reply, because I'm on my way home from work :)

This is why I so want the Sigma 800 F/5.6 or Sigma 300-800 F/5.6.
But the price tag brand new is a bit out of my reach. Check out the lovely detail in the feathers on this tiny bird.

What for? Photographic stuff in UK is more than the price what u can get overhere, that what I've been told.

Is Mel. not suitable for u then move to Sydeny or NT or WA or QLD.

Kipper, if you go to the UK don't worry about f8 Sigma or Nikon, you will need a f2.8 or f4 there. As you know lots darker than aus

Most people seem to get away with F/5.6 there :)

Also Glen, it's not that dark. Was there at winter and it's about the same as Melbourne Winters for light.
