A couple of images of my youngest son from today. 2nd image is just a blow up of the 1st (although have retouched "grey/dead tooth" slightly in the 2nd shot....that's another story). The 70-200VR is an almighty beast! When I zoom in on the original image the scope to crop & print at will is amazing. I don't think this post will do it justice but anyway here it is.

Not sure how this will turn out posted, but in PS the clarity & sharpness at big enlargements is incredible.

Huh... looks fine to me... I'm sure the original was even sharper though...

I love the ability to crop my full-res shots and still get decent resolution...

Nice capture of a fun expression.
The only distracting point is the piece of wood coming from out of your son's head.
Plenty of background you can clone from though.

here is another example of portrait taken with the 70-200mm VR.
I have blown the highlights a bit, but else I believe it is a good
portrait of someone having lunch.

So now I just go with the flow. I'm gonna get my wife to hold him down and grind those bits that stick up away tomorrow. He's cool with it, we asked him last week if we could grind it off but he needed it for "Show and tell" this week at school!
