Some night photos

Was out in the city tonight and thought I'd make the most out of it. :)

Couldn't get the WB right for the church as it was either red or too yellow....if I made it a bit cooler, it didn't have the oomph so thought I'd convert it to b&w :)

I wanted to take another photo of the fountain after the second one as the falling water created a nice soft effect, but they turned fountain off on me :( All lights went out and water stopped. Was an "interesting" experience....

Hi Piro.
Well done on the night shots. :D
The church is well suited to the B&W treatment.
The last image is the only one I don't particularly care for - I see that it was an 8 sec exposure, so the camera must have been on a tripod, so I can only assume that you intended the camera to be tilted. Unfortunately, that angle emphasises the WA tendency for the building to appear as if it is toppling over (seeing that it is Parliament House, perhaps not a bad idea  ), but not an effect I greatly admire in photos.
Others may have different views, of course.

Wayne, great stuff, I love the 2nd one if somehow you can get rid of the bit of building on the left and straighten it so it is perfectly vertical i reckon thats a top shot.

Mic.

G'day Piro,
Really like the B&W treatment on the church, gives it an eerie, spooky feel... The lit branches in the first really suit the spookie, scary sort of feel they have (well at least to me)

Thanks for the comments :)

Cricketfan, I see your point :) I wasn't paying too much attention to the verticals at the time and during pp

Mic, I seriously considered taking out part of the church as it really unbalanced the photo but thought I'd leave it in to see what others had to say ;) I think i'll remove it.

Andrew, when I first saw the branch in front of the church my first immediate thought was of LOTR and the white tree of Gondor. In the colour version, it didn't look right...so glad I converted it to b&w :D

Excellent shots, all of them. I especially like the fountain ones. Did you use tripod for the fountain ones? What was the shutter speed? Thanks

Hi

i like the first one and the foundation pics. personally, i would prefer a shorter exposure time cos the white is over exposed - too constrasty against the background.

regards,

Arthur

Great shots Piro. I love the 3rd one of St Pauls. Gives the impression of aloofness and solidarity.

Nice work Piro. I like all but the first one. I find the blown out tree in the forground overpowering and distracting. The fountain sots and the 2nd and 3rd shots of the church are my picks.

Cheers,

The fountain ones are great. But I don't like the first one. The bright branches are quite distracting. It really takes away from the building.

i really like the first fountain pic. The palm in the background alomost looks like a firework exploding in the distance :) Nice effect.
