If a moth comes to rest, it's wings are spread out. If a butterfly comes to rest, it closes it's wings up.
So it looks like a butterfly. A nice photo of one too.

250D and 500D are both close-up filters from Canon. Nikon has them too - T2 - T6.
The filter adds 3x magnification to the lens' magnification.
