I'm very pleased with the new firmware. It uploaded without a hitch, so I slapped on the 80-400 and went for a walk out in the back forty. Everything seems to work just fine and I'm very pleased with the new AA item in the Image Optimization menu, as evidenced below with the shot of the neigbor and his boy going back to the barn.

Superb shot Kerry. The B & W works really well. Gives this a nice rustic feel.

Cool shot Kerry. Threw me off a little at first as they are going downhill. Good to hear that this firmware will work out all right. I think that I'll do it later today.

If you don't mind a quick critique on the photo, the foreground doesn't seem to help the pic out for me. It's an awesome pic, but I think a little crop of the immediate foreground would be nice, but that may just be me. Thanks for posting.

A great shot Kerry... If I had taken that (some hope!) I would have kept it for the comp...

Nice shot Kerry. One thing has me a little stumped though, "new AA feature in Optimise Image menu"???

Cheers

Nice shot but I agree that the bottom out of focus portion doesn't really add to the shot and might be better cropped off. Just my opinion

Kerry - I am always amazed at some terms used around the world - your ’back forty’ is just one of them

The pic: A short time ago you put up a pic that reminded me of the war years in the UK - B&W with much emotive feelings.

This pic is in the same vein - this could have been shot in the USA, England or even Russia during the 30’s - powerful, emotive, beautifully executed - a winner

Thanks to all for the very kind comments. They're greatly appreciated. :D

Leek: Dunno what you mean when you said you'd have kept it for the comp.

Chris: Back Forty is an old farmer's term from Ohio, where I grew up, meaning the back acreage, farthest from the farm house. :?

Matt: The AA feature in the Optimize Image menu is very cool. Gives you this kind of shot right off. 8)

Nice shot Kerry,

I would have liked the Farmer out in front leading though.

Just my 5cents worth.

Mic.

Mic; Yeah, I'd have liked it better that way too, but you take what you can get. :D

Don't have this feature - is US firmware different?
Could it be the LA (for landscape) setting?
More details please Kerry.

Anyone else know what this AA feature in the "Optimize Image" menu is about ?? Looked on the Nikon USA website and the firmware bin file looks to be the same, and the description of what the firmware enhances are the same as on the Nikon ASIA site (which you'd expect).

I'm interested to hear more about what this AA function is about !!!

Anyone...... :?:

Apparently, you guys don't have the Ansel Adams function? It makes shooting pix a lot easier. :D

:) I knew that if I waited around for long enough that I would get an explanation.

Maybe I should have downloaded the US firmware.

Cheers
