G'day all,
Well, after the buzz of loading the new firmware and having a dummy day off work, I had to go and play. First time I've used dynamic focus, so I wanted to try the new firmware and try the dynamic focus... Dunno if it's any different or not as I don't have any knowledge of what it was like before the update...

Anyway, what else would ya do on a day off than play on the forum ;-)

Remember when an Australian woman was killed by a hippo in Africa recently? Dean and I met a friend of hers at the recent Port Campbell work-shop, when you see the teeth you realise just how much of a mess they could make of you  Check out the choppers!

Through thick grimey glass with grubby finger prints everywhere, ah well...

Cheers.

I heard that hippos are responsible for a lot of deaths in Africa, they are supposed to be very territorial, especially if they have youngsters nearby.

hi mudder,

have tried to shoot this hippo myself a number of times, i understand
how hard, if possible at all, to get a clear and sharp pic through the dirty
water-stained glass. yours is nicely clear and sharp, good work.

That glass is terrible. You didn't have to jostle for position? It can get nasty! :) You caught a really good pose there. Great shot. Did you end up going to Craig's hut?

Hippo's are nuts! I've been to Africa twice now and it's amazing how threatening they can be. When you're enjoying a pleasant cruise viewing game on a river they do this:

then disappear under water and all you see is a big wake following your boat. They then pop out of the water and thrash about (grunting like an ogre laughing) as if to say "I've already eaten 2 Australians this year..don't try me"!!

We were in Northern Botswana (Chobe River) when that woman was munched this year but we didn't tell mum until after we'd left the hippo region otherwise she would have never come on the boats with us!

Also, the first time I went to Africa I went to Victoria Falls about a week after a guy from Adelaide was killed there..gotta love Africa, always something going on!!
