Macro - 5 of 8 - Creative use of background and lighting using Flash.

Can anyone guess how the background is changed to blue colour?
It's almost 5pm and getting dark. I have to rely mostly on flash for lighting.

Well you didn't say what the background was so:

1. I'll have a stab in the dark (pun intended) and say you used a slow exposure to brighten a darkening sky while using flash to freeze your subject.

2. Either that or you shot this above water (the sparkles in the top left hint towards that).

3. Or better yet, the butterfly is dead and you've shot this in the studio with a backdrop. LOL!

Well done. You are almost right on the 3rd one. The butt is alive. The blue background is my RACV membership card.
