Just got this lens and only had a small chance to play. A few quick shots with the only willing models:









300mm certainly is a lot longer reach than my previous max of 105 (macro).

Had another play today.

It is noticeably soft wide open when viewed at 100% but stopping down a bit removes that, and it's not a big problem.












And a couple taken with my Sigma 105:

Too true Pippen. The 70-300, be it Nikkor, Stigma or Tamron is a good lens if you know its limitations. I find as long as I stay at or above f8, I get acceptable results....
