Here's probably the best photo I took from a downhill mountain bike racing event.
Will post the rest up eventually.

Wow... that's a pretty impressive action shot... It looks great...
The white tape spoils it a bit, but it's probably too much to clone out...
What effect did you use to get that look to the photo? It almost looks like a watercolour...

Fantastic shot Piro, action, excitement, it has it all. You've even managed to capture the concentration in the rider's eys. Well done.

No effect or photoshop work
It's all done in camera. I had added USM and adjusted levels a bit but it seems to have been removed from the resize :S

Indeed... I hope this was taken before the comp started... You could be missing out on a d70s!
And if it was not... Then I cant wait to see the one you didnt post and have in keeping for the comp!
Awesome shot! This is worth money... I hope you sold it to the rider or company...

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, my son saw me checking this out and said "Dad did you take that" I obviously said: "Yeah do you think it's cool?" I don't think I looked too convincing and he said "You really did'nt take that shot did you Dad" I looked at him and said "No, but I could have"..........he did'nt believe me.
Great work!!! Sorry for the story but had to pass it on!

Lol thanks Marcus
You would've had to convince your son that you actually woke up at 7 in the morning, drive for about an hour and a half, hike up a mountain track and set up the shot

This is better than most magazine shots I see. Truly terrific. I think that you should crop a little off the right hand to give more space in front of the rider. Plus the left hand side is more dramatic where the right hand side isn't.
But seriously, you really nailed this one, I absolutely love it.

Out-bloomin'-standin' shot, amazing stuff is all I can say. There are millions of action shots out there, this one stands out. Well done. I especially like the fact that you can see the riders eyes.

This would have to be one of the best action shots I've seen. You should be extremely happy with this. Do you have others to share, or is this the only one that you were happy with?

Hi stubbsy,
I do have others but a bit worried to show them as I would like to enter it for the comp.

Depends Piro on which angle you take on the decisive moment - does the moment apply to the photographer or the subject
With this pic, IMO, you have captured 2 decisive moments - yours and his

Exceptional. My hat is off.

Amazing Shot Piro. I don't know whether to be encouraged that I guessed how you did it or discouraged because I know I still wouldn't be able to get a shot like that anyway
Just a matter of 8 or 9 years practice I guess. I knew I should have gone for mountain bike tickets at the Comm Games!!

Outstanding action shot...and I don't mind the white tape at all. This image is of a professional standard in every way and could easily win a major prize for this type of imagery. Now...was it a fluke? or could you do it again?
