edged out the bird, crop out a section of the background, enlarged and applied motion blur and used it as the background.

That's a great photo! There's a lake at Fountain Gate?

Hi
Thanks everyone. Not really a lake - more like a big pond. It's near the entrance.

Arthur

Does the lake at fountain gate have a fountain as well?
I like what you did in
PS Arthur. It sets the image off quite well.

Really nice. Really nice. I bet we have exclusively some of the best shots of seagulls around on here. Seriously, JordanP's seagull entry for the 2nd comp was one of the more unanimous winners. This is a winner too. Thanks for posting such a wicked shot. Any chance we could see the original?
Edit, Hey, I've got a thousand posts. Hmm, this could be a bad thing.

just one thing that SORTA bothers me is the wing is a little too close to being cropped...very borderline.
can you bump the image back a bit?

Seagulls! reminds me of a nasty trick we used to do as young, bored kids. You buy a metre length of airplane rubber from the hobby shop and 2 small garfish from a fish shop. You tie a fish onto each end of the rubber and throw it to the seagulls. A gull will grab one fish and another gull will grab the second and off they go, wheeling and spinning....the rubber streching and stretching....until....well, it's a hilarious spectacle.

Nicely done Arthur, both the bird and the background.
Mic, the wedge tail is probably one of the more common birds in my part of the world. Plenty of smaller birds of prey. No pics, so looks like I am going to have to get out a bit more. I am getting sick of photographing people and events anyway. Time to do something just for myself. Now where did I put that tele.....
Matt, you were a sadistic child!!
Well, I imagined it... and had a good laugh!
Cheers
Matt
