I prefer the first shot.

The symmetry and the perspective of the guard rails adds a lot to it.

Scott,

I vote for the first one. Love wide angle perspective converge

Hi Scott,
I like #1 better, as the road is visable right as far as you can see...and the photo leads into the road through the arch..just my opinion tho :).

When I first looked at these two it was the second one by a country mile... But then the more I looked at #1 the more I liked it... until I was really confused which one I liked more... I like the strong diagonal composition of #2 (the gutter ending in the corner and the wall coming out on a diagonal leading to the arch) but then yes.... The symetry of #1 started to apeal...

Scott, in which case you would really love item number three, the as-yet untaken view from about two feet further to to the right from where image #2 was shot. It would also have the gutter on the RH side going into the corner, but it shoulkd also include the road wandering off into the distance ... :)

The first one is my preference. I think the strong leading lines draw you into the shot, whereas on the second one the lines break the image up a trifle too much - especially the suspension wires in top left and right middle of the image.

I prefer no 2. The symetry of the first one makes it a little to static for me. Lacks visual tension.

#1. I like the non standard angle. #2 is a bog standard POV.

Definitely the first one for me, but Im a sucker for vanishing-point pics :)
I do agree with Gary that a step into the road and still using that kerb would have been great too.

Excuse me for being pedantic, but aren't they both the same bridge???

I prefer photo #1 - just due to the daring of standing in the middle of the road to take a photo :-)

No 2. In the first one my eye is taken through the bridge. In the second it is taken to the bridge.
